Privacy Policy

Nine Bar is a personal coffee journal for beans, dial-in history, and every drink you make. This page explains what information may be collected, how it may be used, and the choices available to you.

Effective date: August 24, 2026 Applies to: Nine Bar mobile app and website

1. Introduction

Nine Bar ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Nine Bar mobile application and website.

Nine Bar is a personal journal for tracking coffee beans, brewing history, and recipes. It is designed to work fully offline, with no account required for core use.

2. Information We Collect

We aim to keep data collection limited and purposeful. Depending on how you use Nine Bar, we may collect:

  • User-entered content, such as beans, pulls (shot logs), recipes, equipment profiles, and any notes or ratings you add.
  • Optional photos, if you choose to attach a photo to a bean.
  • Account information, such as an email address or an Apple or Google account identifier, only if you choose to create an account.
  • Usage and diagnostic data, such as app interactions, crash information, and performance data.
  • Device information, such as device type, operating system version, language, and app version.
Note: Nine Bar does not require account creation to use the core app. Your beans, pulls, and recipes stay on your device unless you choose to create an account for cross-device sync.

3. How We Use Information

We may use collected information to:

  • Store and display your beans, pulls, recipes, and equipment profiles within the app.
  • Sync your data across your devices, if you create an account and enable sync.
  • Improve app performance, reliability, and usability.
  • Monitor service health, troubleshoot issues, and help prevent misuse of optional account features.
  • Process subscription or one-time purchase payments through the App Store, where applicable.

4. Third-Party Services

Nine Bar uses a limited set of third-party services to support optional account features and app functionality. These may include:

  • Firebase (Google), for optional account authentication, cloud data sync, and photo storage.
  • Apple's App Store, to process subscription and one-time purchase payments.
  • Basic analytics or crash-reporting tools, to help us fix bugs and improve reliability.

Nine Bar does not use advertising networks or advertising identifiers of any kind. Third-party services may collect or process certain information in accordance with their own privacy policies. We do not control the data practices of third-party providers.

5. Data Retention

Beans, pulls, recipes, and equipment profiles you create are stored on your device by default. If you create an account and enable sync, this same data is also stored in our cloud database for as long as your account remains active.

If you delete your account, associated cloud-synced data is deleted within a reasonable timeframe. Data stored only on your device is removed when you delete the app.

6. Your Choices

You can manage your privacy in several ways:

  • Use Nine Bar without creating an account — all core features remain available.
  • Choose not to attach photos or notes to beans and pulls.
  • Delete individual beans, pulls, recipes, or equipment profiles at any time within the app.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated cloud data by contacting us.

7. Data Deletion Requests

If you would like to request deletion of your account or synced data, please contact us using the information below. We will review and process requests within a reasonable timeframe.

Include enough detail for us to identify your account, such as the email address used to sign in.

8. Children's Privacy

Nine Bar is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to help protect information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
